The Working Principle of The Plastic Blow Molding Machine

The working principle of the plastic blow molding machine mainly includes the following steps:

1. Feeding: Put raw materials such as plastic particles or powder into the hopper of the blow molding machine. These raw materials are usually thermoplastics, such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyester (PET), etc.


2. Plasticization: After the raw materials enter the barrel of the extruder, they are forced to be pushed toward the direction of the die by the screw as the screw rotates. In this process, due to the resistance of the filter screen, diverter plate, and die mouth at the die head, and the gradual reduction of the capacity between the screw threads, the plastic is subject to great resistance. At the same time, the heat transmitted by the barrel and the friction between the barrel, screw, and plastic molecules caused by the compression, shearing, stirring, and other forces of the plastic during movement will generate a lot of heat. As the temperature of the plastic in the barrel continues to rise, its physical state gradually changes from a glassy state to a highly elastic state, and finally to a viscous flow state, achieving complete plasticization.


3. Extrusion of parison: The plasticized plastic is extruded from the die mouth of the die at a certain pressure and speed under the push of the screw to form a tubular plastic parison. The shape and size of the parison depend on the design of the die head and the extrusion process parameters.


4. Mold closing: The cut parison is quickly transferred to the blow mold, and then the mold is closed to form a closed space.


5. Blowing: Compressed air is introduced into the parison through the air supply system on the blow molding machine. The pressure of compressed air is usually between several and dozens of atmospheres, which makes the plastic parison inflate and close to the inner wall of the mold. Under the action of air pressure, the shape of the parison will gradually expand until it completely fits the shape of the mold to form a hollow product.


6. Cooling and solidification: After the parison is blown and formed, the cooling medium (usually water) is introduced into the mold, and the product is cooled through the cooling channel inside the mold. The circulation of the cooling medium can quickly take away the heat of the product so that the plastic is quickly cooled and solidified.


7. Product shaping: After a period of cooling, the temperature of the product is reduced to a certain level, the plastic is completely solidified, and the shape and size of the product are fixed.


8. Mold opening: After cooling is completed, the mold is opened to separate the product from the mold.


9. Take out the product: Use a robot or other removal device to take out the formed hollow plastic product from the mold to complete a blow molding cycle.
